Lost Arrow :: Part I, Sentence 4

Ne' ne unëhtsi wai wáôwö' ne höwöhsút huikê úênö', akwas wai nê kaëníyú.
It was a song his grandmother had given him long ago, a very beautiful song.

ne'  ::  clause marker particle

ne  ::  phrase marker particle

unëhtsi  ::  long ago

This is another word that you'll see a lot in stories.  It is related to the word únë, which means "now, at that time".  In pronunciation, the ne which comes before unëhtsi will often contract onto the front of the word, making it sound like nunëhtsi.

wai  ::  mild emphasis particle

This particle is quite similar to the particle nae that we learned in the last lesson.

wáôwö'  ::  she gave it to him

Even though this is a fairly short word by Mingo standards, it is quite complex.  Rather than breaking this word down too much, we'll learn one of the most useful forms of this verb:

takö!  --  give it to me!

As in:

Takö ne ka'nö'!  --  Give me the arrow!
