Lost Arrow :: Part I, Sentence 4

Ne' ne unëhtsi wai wáôwö' ne höwöhsút huikê úênö', akwas wai nê kaëníyú.
It was a song his grandmother had given him long ago, a very beautiful song.

akwas  ::  very

This is a useful adverbial particle.  You can use it with any descriptive verb to make the description more intense.  For example:

Akwas akekwëtææ'ö.  --  I'm very lonely.

  ::  this, these

This is a shortened version of the particle nêkê that we just saw in the last lesson. There is no shortened form for huikê -- it's always just huikê.  Even though it's shorter, you can use it in exactly the same way as nêkê.

nê ka'nö'  --  this arrow
nê kanöhsa'ôwe  --  this native-style house

kaëníyú  ::  beautiful song

This word is related to both the word úênö' "song" that we saw just in an earlier lesson, and also the verb wíyú "it's good, it's nice, it's beautiful".  The word wíyú is a very common and useful descriptive verb.

Ne' nêkê wíyú.  --  This is good.
Ne' huikê akwas wíyú.  --  That is very good.
