Exercise 1.3
Future + K-Class Prefixes

The second Modal prefix we shall look at is the Future. The Future takes the form ë-. Just as with the Optative, after the Future the Pronominal prefixes beginning with h- lose the h- and prefixes beginning with a vowel add a -y- to the beginning; but the 1sP prefix ak- adds -w- instead. The vowel -a- after the Future is nasalized to -ö- by the regular rule of Contagious Vowel Nasalization. Look at the model.

ëwök tók it will see me
ësk tók you will see me
ëök tók he will see me
ëyök tók she will see me

You'll notice that in the Future, the Ms/1s (he does something to me) and 3dp/1s (they do something to me) forms are identical.
